Albert Sherwood Anderson, 78, of St. Johns died June 22, 2009.
Al was an honor roll student at the University of California Berkley before joining the U.S. Air Force and serving as a navigator.
While stationed in Palm Beach, Fla., he met his sweetheart Shirley and was married July 28, 1956.
He graduated with a doctorate of pharmacy from the University of New Mexico and returned to St. Johns, the town that he loved.
He joined his father and uncle as the third-generation pharmacist at the St. Johns Drug Company.
He was active in the community and served on the City Council and the Lyman Water Board.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in various callings.
Al enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and swimming and was a voracious reader.
He had a lifelong passion for farming and ranching which continued until his passing.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, in St. Johns at the downtown LDS Chapel.
A viewing will be held one-hour prior to the service.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Shirley; children Robert and Lisa of West Point, Utah, Steven and Tana of St. Johns, Thomas and Donna of St. Johns, Lisa and Brad Whaley of Gilbert, Jeffrey and Karen of South Jordan, Utah and Shayla and Chris Taylor of Gilbert.
He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and sister Charlotte Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert F. and Cora, brother Charles and sisters Kathlyn, Marvine, Sonja, Greeta and Carol.
