KNOCHE,
Kathy
(Maiden Name: Campbell)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ June 29, 2009
Kathy Knoche died on June 25, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Jose, Calif., Feb. 17, 1951, to the late Nina D'Anna Campbell and Donald Campbell.
Kathy grew up in San Jose, Calif., and Bisbee. She was an honor roll student and school mascot at Bisbee High School, where she graduated in 1969.
She moved to the Phoenix area and married the late Daryl Copeland in 1972 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Bisbee. They moved to Mesa where their children were born and raised.
Her compassionate nature was evident in many aspects of her life. She worked tirelessly for many years helping with after-school activities for her children in the Mesa Arizona Public Schools.
She was the president and on the council of the Parent Teacher Organization at Webster Elementary School. Even when her children left school and she had moved to Show Low in 1998, she continued to be instrumental in helping to set up the after-school program for the City of Show Low, mentoring the next generation.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Tempe and served many years in the choir. She was involved with and led many other church-sponsored activities. She organized and led the church's youth group and activities, and she worked for Meals on Wheels in the Phoenix region.
She was active in the Mesa Community College Arts Department, where she taught courses and was a member of the Tempe Arts Guild.
Kathy received her bachelor's of fine arts degree from Arizona State University and was a member of the board and a charter member from inception of the Arts Alliance of the White Mountains.
Her artistic prints, paintings and photography have been displayed throughout the Show Low area to much acclaim. The most important things in Kathy's life were her love for her family, art, music and her strong spiritual beliefs.
Survivors include her devoted husband, David Knoche of Show Low; her three children, Daniel Copeland, Mike Copeland and Belinda Minutella; her three brothers, Andy Campbell, Chuck Campbell and Mark Campbell; five grandchildren; and her father, Donald Campbell.
Her beloved eldest brother, Donald Campbell Jr., passed away in September 2004.
