TUROWSKI, Wilhelm Horst

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 2, 2009 Wilhelm Horst Turowski, 68, of Show Low died peacefully, Sunday morning June 28, 2009, with his loving wife, Rose, and devoted daughter, Veronica, at his side. Wilhelm was born Sept. 20, 1940, in Augsburg, Germany, to the late Wilhelm Gottlieb and Maria Josefa (Steinberger) Turowski. Wilhelm was proud to be an American and, as a young man, enlisted in the U.S. Armed Forces, serving in both the Army and Navy from 1959 through 1964. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he moved to Arizona in 1967 from Arkansas. He worked many years in the aluminum industry. At the time of his retirement he was an aluminum production line inspector. William thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of the great outdoors and found a great deal of comfort listening to the quiet ripples of Show Low Lake, a place he considered as his "home." Wilhelm is survived by his wife, Rose Turowski of Show Low; children William George Turowski of Devine, Texas, Bryan Splawn of Devine, Texas, Hattie Parrilla of New Jersey, Regina Gardner of Phoenix and Veronica Turowski of Show Low; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by son Bobby Lee Splawn in 2005. Memorial services will be held at 10.a.m Thursday, July 9, the Pavillion No. 1 at Show Low Lake Campground, 5800 Show Low Lake Road, where Kevin Weaver, Hospice Compassus chaplain, will officiate. The service will commence with military honors being rendered by the veterans of the White Mountains. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled arrangements.
