JARVIS,
Richard Rulon
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ April 9, 2009
Richard Rulon Jarvis died peacefully April 5, 2009, in Mesa. He was born in Woodruff Dec. 12, 1934, to Jesse Rulon Jarvis Jr. and Rilla (Johnson) and raised in Snowflake.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 18 years during which time he married his sweetheart Duriye "Doli" Bozukluoglu in Istanbul, Turkey.
He graduated from ASU and prided himself on "protecting your tax dollars" as an internal auditor for the State of Arizona for 27 years.
He was an active member of the LDS church and a temple worker in the Mesa Temple for many years. He was an officer in the Tempe B.P.O. Elks and long-time supporter of ASU athletics, especially football and baseball. Now he'll be sitting on the sidelines and in the dugout at ASU.
Richard adored his family and extended family and especially loved to cheer on and support his grandkids. He loved to visit and recall stories from the past.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years; brothers Blaine (Verona), Norman (Phyllis) and Thomas (Lovenia); sisters Judy (Rogers) Stock and Suzanne Knighton; as well as his children, James (Heidi), Cynthia (David) Benson and Tammy; and seven grandchildren, Sarah and Spencer Jarvis and Camille, Richard, Matthew, Joshua and Mark Benson.
Rick is now reunited (whom he missed terribly) with his parents and three younger brothers, Rex, Gerald and James, who preceded him in death.
A visitation was held Wednesday, April 8, at Bunker's Garden Chapel in Mesa. Funeral services were held April 9 at the LDS Chapel in Tempe. Graveside services will be in Lakeside.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund or to Hospice of the Valley.
Bunker's Garden Chapel handled arrangements.
