Bettie Clark-Gillespie, 67, of Lakeside died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in Snowflake. She was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Rock Island, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Ester (Todd) Clark.
She was raised and attended school in Casa Grande, graduating from Union High School in 1960. She moved to Las Vegas in 1967 and worked as a change girl at the El Cortez Casino.
She moved to Toltec in 1987 to care for her ill mother. While there, she worked at a Chevron station.
She came to Show Low in 2000 where she worked as the manager of the Dairy Queen until health forced her retirement in 2008. She was known as a champion to the teenagers while at Dairy Queen. She enjoyed sewing, skiing, reading and talk radio.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Gillespie (Todd Randall) of Salt Lake City, Utah; two sisters, Ester Boyd of San Diego, Calif., and Trudy Taylor of Casa Grande; two brothers, Charlie Clark of Coolidge and Dale Clark of Show Low; grandson Brandon Gillespie of Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Ann.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, April 7, at the Show Low Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints with Bishop Marshall Pratt officiating.
