The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ April 16, 2009 Dr. Erin Mary McLain Erin was called by God to join Him Monday, April 13, 2009. Erin was born May 18, 1978, in Worcester, Mass. She was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister, friend and physician who unselfishly cared for all of those who entered her life. Her outgoing, positive and optimistic personality glowed in any room that she entered. She fulfilled her childhood dream of becoming a pediatrician and caring for the children of our society. Erin graduated salutatorian from Lake Havasu High School, suma cum laude from the University of Arizona as a member of the Honors College and the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency in Arizona and settled into practice in Pinetop. As a youth she was actively involved in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls where she is a Past Grand Worthy Associate Advisor, Girl Scouts of America and Eastern Star. In college Erin was a member of the Gamma Beta Phi Society and the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society. Continuing her passion for community involvement, she spent hundreds of hours volunteering as a religious education teacher and a CPR instructor at the CUPP Clinic. Erin was a member of the American Medical Association, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She dedicated her life to caring for infants and small children of the world. Erin will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her. She is survived by her parents, James and Mary McLain, and her brother Rick and his wife Brandy. A visitation and rosary will be held Friday, April 17, at the Adair Chapel at 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., in Tucson, from 6-8 pm. Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales, 1375 S. Camino Seco. Graveside services to follow. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Dr. Erin McLain Memorial Fund, c/o St. Anthony's School, PO BOX 696, Lakeside AZ, 85929. Arrangements by Adair Funeral Home.
