Policarpio "Paul" Gonzales, 74, died March 3, 2009, in Holbrook. He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Brackettville, Texas, to Jesus Gonzales and Sara Flores; one of 13 children.
Paul served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Era. He moved to Arizona in 1962 and married Nora Baldonado Dec. 21, 1964. He retired from APS Cholla Power Plant.
He had a great sense of humor, always making others laugh. Paul was a giving person who will be greatly missed. Dad was well known for his love of the Dallas Cowboys and for his cartoon drawings.
Paul and Nora had six children, Lorena Valenzuela, Julie Arnold, Beatrice (Robert) Castro, Paul Jr. (Robin) Gonzales, Dolores (Michael) Angus and Toni Gonzales; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and seven brothers and sisters, Frances, Ramona, Esther, Olivia, Jane, Jesus "Bo" and Dan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora, and five brothers and sisters, Ofelia, Carmen, Carlos, Joe and Felix.
A memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona Ave., in Holbrook. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
