Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona July 27, 1989, page 2-A Duane Harlan Harris, 80, of Congress, died July 24. He was born June 26, 1909 in Dunkirk, N.Y. He had lived in Arizona for the past 18 years. Mr. Harris worked as a draftsman for the American Locomotive Co., and following the depression graduated from Buffalo State teachers College in 1940. He taught Industrial Arts and Mechanical Drawing at Canisteo Central School in New York until he retired in 1971, moving to Congress. Mr. Harris was the president of his local teachers’ association, negotiating contracts, and was the editor of the Congress Senior Citizens Newsletter. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Arthea, of Congress; a sister, Shirley, of Salt Lake City, Utah; three daughters; one son; and 10 grandchildren, all of whom live in New York State.
