Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, January 12, 2011 Della Murea Ethel Cochran, age 90 of Globe, Ariz. passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. She was born in Taos, N.M. on Aug. 24, 1920, the twelfth child of Della Isabelle Sumantha (Hamilton) and Charles Arthur McElhaney. She was raised in Oklahoma on an Indian Reservation and lived there until 1934 when she moved to Arizona with her family. At the age of nine she was cooking, sewing, gardening and trapping. Ethel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Miami Ward. She married John Cochran in 1936 and they had three children. She loved sewing, gardening, doing family records with her husband and was a great story teller. Ethel will be greatly missed and warmly remembered by her family and friends. She leaves behind in loving memory her three children, Evelyn Hembrough, Julia Buchholtz and Charles Cochran; siblings, Pauline Smith, Anna Shepherd, Moroni McElhaney and Josephine Waite; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren with twins on the way and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at 9 a.m. in the Relief Society Room at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Miami Ward, 4247 E. Broad St., Claypool, Ariz. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Miami Ward. Interment will be Monday, Jan. 17, 2011at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, 7900 E. Main St., Mesa Ariz. Funeral arrangements for Ethel Cochran were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Globe.
