Private services were conducted for Carl James Brost, a former longtime Wickenburg resident, who died Aug. 24 in Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West. He was 76.
Mr. Brost moved with his wife and family to Wickenburg in 1949, and operated the old Texas Café on Center Street (now Wickenburg Way) until 1956. He returned to the community in 1961, and was the original operator of Gold Nugget Restaurant, owned by Roy Coxwell.
He retired in 1968 from the restaurant business, after which he was employed by the Western Auto Store in Wickenburg.
He was a past president of the Wickenburg Kiwanis Club, and a past member of the Town Council and the Gold Shirt Gang.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of Sun City; sons Fred of Sun City, William of Newton, N.J. and Richard of Chandler; a daughter, Carolyn, of Phoenix and eight grandchildren.
