Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona September 28, 1989, page 2-A Mrs. Richard W. Read, a former longtime Wickenburg resident, died in mid-August at her home in Tamworth, N.H. Burial was in Read Cemetery in Wonalancet, N.H. Mrs. Read was born in Cambridge, Mass. Her daughter, Helen Read Steele, graduated from Wickenburg Elementary School, and another daughter, Joanne Floyd, is a Wickenburg High graduate. Mrs. Read and her husband, the late Richard Welch read; were longtime winter residents of Wickenburg, living at the Rancho Grande for 25 years. She and her husband moved to Tamworth in 1925 and operated a small dairy farm there for many years. She was a member of the RSVP, the Tamworth Meals-On-Wheels, and Hospice of Southern Carroll County. She had served as treasurer for the Tamworth Community Nurse Association and the Tamworth Arts Council and was a member of Tamworth Outing Club. Survivors include three daughter, Helen Read Steele, Joanne Floyd and Nancy Coville, all of Tamworth; two sons, Thomas Read of Downers Grove, Ill, and Bertrim Read of Washington Depot, Conn.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
