BRUGGER, Norman Dale


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 6, 2009 Norman Dale Brugger, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at his Pinetop home from complications of diabetes. Norm was a New Year's Day baby born Jan. 1, 1944, in Norfolk, Neb., to the late Dale Edward and Lena Marie (Walde) Brugger. Norm was proud to be an American and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and spent a tour in Vietnam as a cartographer-topographer. He was a graduate of the Engineering School at the University of California at Chico, becoming a licensed engineer and land surveyor registered in six different states. Norm worked for the Department of Defense, Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Arizona Department of Transportation, Phelps Dodge Corporation and several other private enterprises. Most recently he was self-employed at Southwest Engineering in Pinetop, where he had worked since 1994. Norm is survived by his very good friends, Marla Randall and her husband, the Honorable Judge David Widmaier of Pinetop and their children. Graveside services and military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, in Phoenix.
