PHILPOTT, Clarence Morris


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 13, 2009 Clarence Morris Philpott died Jan. 7, 2009, at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix. He was born April 1, 1935, to Lloyd and Lucille Philpott in Clarksburg, W.Va. He followed in the footsteps of his father in pastoral ministry and pastored for 43 ½ years. His latest pastorage was at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Springerville. He graduated from Mount Vernon Academy in May of 1953 and then went on to Union College where he got his pastoral degree in May of 1960. He was ordained into the gospel ministry in July of 1965 at the Chesapeake Conference camp meeting. He pastored in several states that extended from the east coast to the west coast. Clarence loved model trains and enjoyed hiking in the great outdoors. His brother Frank Philpott passed away in the late 1980s. He married his first wife, Alma Lou Harlen Aug. 9, 1969, at Tacoma Park, Md. She passed away March 8, 2003. He married his second wife, Francine Clow, in Flagstaff in June of 2007, and she passed away Aug. 4, 2007. He is survived by son Daniel, his wife and their two sons; and son Edward, his wife and their daughter and son. Memorial services will be held at the Springerville Seventh Day Adventist Church at 11 Gutierrez St. in Springerville at 4 p.m. on the Sabbath, Feb. 14.
