Gregory Rodney Hill, 52, of Terrell, Texas, died Jan. 22, 2009, at his residence. He was born Feb. 2, 1956, in Phoenix to Fred Charles Hill and Sharon D. Hardt Hill.
He attended school in Illinois and graduated from Harlem High School in Loves Park, Ill. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Feb. 4, 1977, and loyally served his country until his honorable discharge March 13, 1981.
Gregory enjoyed collecting coins, trading cards and stamps. He loved fishing for catfish and was an avid Cowboy's fan. He also loved playing pool with his trusty "shooting stick."
Gregory was born to be a dad and was truly his children's hero. He had a great heart that was big enough to give love to everyone. He loved his children and family with a love like no other.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hill, in 1984.
He is loved and will be missed by his loving parents, Sharon D. Gartman of Rockton, Ill., and Fred Hill of Springerville; sons Gregory Robert Hill and wife JodiAnne of Forney, Texas, and Shane Hunter Hill of Alvarado, Texas; daughter Sierra Leanne of Sasche, Texas; sisters Lorena Hill and Veronica Simpson, both of Springerville; grandson Trystyn Alexander Hill; his unborn granddaughter, Brooklyn Anne Marie Hill; and the son he never had, Ricky.
Graveside services with military honors were held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home of Texas.
