The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 20, 2009 Carmen Jean Lupe, 33, of East Fork died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at a Mesa medical center. She was born Dec. 8, 1975, in Whiteriver to Randall Massey Jr. and Annette Lupe. She grew up and attended school at East Fork, graduating from high school in 1994. She was an outstanding athlete in high school and particularly excelled in basketball. She had worked as a librarian at the Seven Mile Elementary School for 13 years. She enjoyed outdoor activities and her many friends and schoolchildren. She was a member of the East Fork Lutheran Church. Survivors include her grandmother, Eva Lupe of Whiteriver; mother Annette Lupe of Whiteriver; father Randall Massey Jr. of Whiteriver; four sisters, Arlene (Burton) Natan, Vallery (Crisantos) Bead, Benita Antonio and Meghan Tenijieth, all of Whiteriver; five brothers, Antone Cruz of Albuquerque, N.M., and Leo Cruz, Jerry Lupe, Everett Lupe and Gary (Berlita) Lupe, all of Whiteriver. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be taken to 5873 Dove St. in East Fork for a wake beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Aday Memorial Hall in Whiteriver with Pastor David Parson officiating.
