Howard Lee Terry, 71, of Taylor died Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at a Glendale hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., to Carl and Gladys (Robinson) Terry.
He was raised and attended school in Warren, Mich., graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1956.
He worked at General Motors before entering the U.S. Navy.
After his discharge, he worked for a General Motors plant as a forklift operator, retiring after 32 years of service.
He moved to Cactus Grove 15 years ago and came to Taylor several years ago.
He worked as a volunteer at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center. He had a very big heart and was always ready to help people.
He enjoyed bowling and doing volunteer work. He was a member of White Mountain United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Show Low Post 9907 and American Legion of the White Mountains Post 76.
Survivors include his sister Loretta (Anthony) Randazzo of Roseville, Mich.; cousin Merl (Trudy) Tery of Auburn Hills, Mich.; and sister-in-law Shirley Terry of Washington Township, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara; and brother Donald Terry.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, in the chapel of Black's Mortuary in Show Low with Rev. Michael Higgs officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Veterans of the White Mountains Honor Guard. Burial will be at the Reed Hatch Memorial Cemetery in Taylor.
