The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 20, 2009 Elsie McWethy, 93 of Snowflake and formerly of Stockton died peacefully Jan. 11, 2009, in with her family by her side where she has been cared for by her loving daughter, Florence Schaber the last six months following a lengthy stay at Wagner Heights Nursing and Rehab of Stockton. Elsie was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Wildorado, Texas, to Josephus and Essie Pope. She resided in Stockton for over 60 years. A hard working woman, a Southern Baptist, she will be sadly missed by all that new and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos T. McWethy; son Leslie McWethy; grandson Guy Glass; great grandsons Brandon Jordon and Carl Henderson, Jr.; sisters, Lou Foundation, Jewel Medlin; and brothers, Clarence, William and Roy Pope. Elsie is survived by her children, Theo (Carren) McWethy, Florence Schaber, Barbara Williams (Albert Kramp) and Terri (Garth) Ungerman; sister of Delbert (Ilene) Pope, Mary (Darrell) Vernon and Alene (Brad) Burks including many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Elsie was laid to rest next to her loving husband of 53 years, Amos T. McWethy Monday, Jan. 19, with graveside services in Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, Calif.
