The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 23, 2009 Marguerite J. Heap, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at the Beehive Home in Eagar. She was born Aug. 20, 1918, in St. Johns to Hyrum James Jones and Mary Patterson. Marguerite married Merle Heap Nov. 30, 1939, in St. Johns. The marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Mesa Temple. Marguerite worked as a city clerk and a hospital administrator in St. Johns. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved to travel and enjoyed life. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Dixie) Heap of Tennessee and Larry (Beverly) Heap of St. Johns; daughters Patricia (Milton) Brabant of Tucson and Jacque Baca of St. Johns; sister Phyllis (Dean) Curtis of Utah; and 24 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Heap, brother Lawrence Jones and sister Helen Cook. A viewing was held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the St. Johns Downtown Chapel. Interment followed at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
