NELSON, Arthur (Buddy) David

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 27, 2009 Arthur "Buddy" David Nelson, 85, of Concho died Jan. 21, 2009, at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in-patient unit in Lakeside. Buddy was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Chehalis, Wash., to the late Chester and Sylvia (Barnhorse) Nelson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during WWII. Prior to serving his country, he played for the White Socks Minor League team. In 1979 he opened the Idle Spurs Steakhouse in Concho, operating the business until 2006. Buddy is survived by his long-time companion, Rosie Reed of Concho, two nephews and one niece of Washington. He was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Fink. A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the San Raphael Catholic Church, Hwy 180A in Concho. Interment to follow in the Concho Cemetery with military honors.
