Manuel M. Lerma Jr., 74, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in Eagar. He was born March 27, 1936, in Silver City, N.M. to Manuel Romero Lerma, Sr. and Pavlita Moya Lerma.
Manuel served his country in the United States Navy from 1954-58. He was a mining truck driver for Asarco, retiring in 2001. Manuel was an adored husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid outdoorsman and never met a person that didn’t become his friend.
Manuel is survived by his wife, Marcella B. Lerma of Eagar; sons: Daniel (Rita) Lerma of Phoenix, Joseph (Isabel) Lerma of San Antonio, Texas; daughters: Nettie (Mike) Bohrn of Phoenix; Catherine (Milo) Cano of Phoenix; Virginia (Randy) Valenzuela of Texarkana, Texas; brothers: Alfonso Lerma, Rudy Lerma, Richard Lerma; sisters Mamie Jaramillo, Dolores Serna, Rebecca Rita Godsey, Consuelo Johnson, Adelita Aragon, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Vincent Lerma.
A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Springerville. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, also at the church. Interment will follow the funeral mass at the Springerville Cemetery.
