Dolores Marie Boehning died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at home in Eagar with family by her side, just six days short of her 87th birthday.
Dolores was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio to Joseph and Cecelia Zimmer. She moved to Albuquerque, N.M. with her family in 1946.
Dolores was a retired executive secretary to several Albuquerque law firms and an insurance company. After becoming widowed, she moved to the White Mountains to live with her daughter. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Springerville. She supported many causes locally, nationally, and world-wide, including various Christian and pro-Life ministries, animal humane societies, natural food cooperatives, and political action committees for conservative values. Even after her body became quite frail, Dolores always exercised her right to vote.
She is survived by her daughter Monica Boehning of Eagar; sisters Eileen Lynch and Cecile Gerken, both of Albuquerque, N.M. and Benita Zimmer of Las Vegas, N.M.; brother Ray Zimmer (Barbara), Las Vegas, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores will also be missed very much by two loyal family dogs.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Albert W. Boehning Jr. and brother Richard Zimmer of Huron, Ohio.
Her funeral and burial will take place in Albuquerque, Monday, Dec. 20. A non-denominational memorial gathering to celebrate her life is being planned for Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Springerville Assembly of God Church, with refreshments to follow.
“We love you, Diz. Your reunion with loved ones gone before us must be awesome.”
