Viola (Vi) Kaplan died peacefully Feb. 10, 2010, at her daughter's home in Maricopa.
She was born in Springerville to Pete and Mercy Romero.
She loved being with her grandkids and three children that she loved more than anything in the world. Viola enjoyed watching her girls playing sports. She enjoyed bowling for many years. She loved it when her son flew her to Oregon to visit, so she could visit with her granddaughter Madison. She was there at the birth of her grandson Connor and helped raise him for 10 years. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son Gary (Sheryl and granddaughter Madison) Kaplan from St. Helens, Ore.; daughters Carole (grandson Connor Louis ) Kaplan from Show Low, Sherri Leigh Kaplan and Dianna Salts both from Maricopa; sisters Clyda Osborne, Aurelia (Glen) Stann both of Taylor, Angell (Vangy) Winston (Lloyd Laub) of Queen Creek; six nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews, some of whom called her Aunt Fly and Aunt Vee Vi; two brothers in-law Bill and John Kaplan from the Bay area of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Kaplan, parents Pete and Mercy Romero of Springerville and sister Ramona Benton.
