The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 8, 2010 Bettye Ham Rhea Russell, 67, of Show Low died Dec. 16, 2009. Bettye was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Marion, Kent., to Jeff and Geneva Chandler. She grew up on a farm and attended a one-room school house until moving with her family to Indiana where she graduated from Hammond Tech in 1959. Bettye married Arthur Ham in 1961 and they lived in Munster, Ind., with their four children until moving to Scottsdale in 1980. Her love of running led her to complete many local 10K races and even the 1982 Fiesta Bowl marathon. Bettye worked for Air Services International for almost 20 years. Most recently, Bettye lived in Show Low with husband Robert "Skip" Russell and worked for helicopter company Overseas Aircraft Support. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family, friends, and co-workers. She is survived by her siblings Winfred "Bud" Chandler (Louella), Effie Campbell (Bruce), Barbara Krueger (Len), Nancy Weenig (Jay), Mary DeRolf, Judy King (Dennis), Janet Hood (Randy); children Bryan Ham, Lynette Schauwecker (Richard), Gary Ham, Greg Ham and granddaughters Bryce, Chandler, and Riley Schauwecker and Bryanne Ham.
