CRUMBY, Virginia Lee


Published in The Yuma Sun on January 16, 2011 - Yuma, Arizona - Virginia Lee Crumby passed away on Jan 12, 2011. She was born Jan 1, 1922 in Ada, Oklahoma to Carrie & James Newton . Virginia is survived by her sons, Paul Crumby, Dave (Ramona) Crumby, and Phillip (Irma) Crumby; 8 grandchildren, Kim Crumby, Patty Crumby of Germany, Steven Crumby of Germany, David Crumby, Ray Crumby, Dennis Crumby, Amy Hollingshead, & Tassy Prior and 16 great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Karen Hollingshead. Virginia took great pride in being known as a New Years baby. Virginia was an only child and her mother made sure there were plenty of pictures of her. She was an avid recipe collector and a great cook. She passed down some of her favorite recipes that are enjoyed by family and friends alike. She lived most of her life in Oklahoma City. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. She made sure that all her children received a church upbringing. She was very religious and her faith was very important to her. While living in Oklahoma City Virginia ran a daycare in her home. She formed close bonds with the children that were left in her charge. She ran her day care off and on for 20 years. She saved pictures from the children that she cared for. Virginia could recall each one of their names and tell a story about each one of them. Virginia moved to Yuma in 1992 to be near her son Dave. Virginia passed away peacefully at Palm View Rehab with her family at her side. Virginia loved gospel music and she also found great joy in being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Virginia Crumby will be held Jan 18, 2011 at 11:00 am at Yuma Mortuary. Crumby, 89, of Yuma, died Jan. 12, 2011, at Palm View Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Ada, Oklah., and was self-employed in child care. A memorial service will take place between 11 a.m. and noon, Tuesday, at Yuma Mortuary and Crematory. Yuma Mortuary and Crematory is handling arrangements, including cremation.
