Daniel B. Schroedle Sr., 75, of Port Orchard, Wash., and formerly of Cottonwood, died May 1, 2005, at Harrison Hospital. He was born Jan. 14, 1930.
He was born in Chicago to Louis and Eleanor (Ross) Schroedle. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1953, stationed in Norfolk, Va., aboard the USS Grand Canyon and attaining the rank of boatswain's mate first class.
On June 19, 1954, he married Marilyn Pitts in Harvey, Ill. Mr. Schroedle went on to work as a pipefitter at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 22 years, retiring from Shop 56 in 1990.
He was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton where he was a group advisor. He loved camping, fishing, animals, home repair and helping others.
Mr. Schroedle will be remembered as a "devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend."
He was preceded in death by a brother, Louis, and a nephew, Michael. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Mark and his wife, Dee Dee, of Grapeview and twins, Danny of Manchester and David and his wife, Debbie, of Port Orchard; three brothers, Richard Roman and Robert "Sonny" Roman and his wife, Sharon, both of Phoenix, and Gene Roman of Chicago; a sister, Louise Raymond and her husband, Kenny, of Phoenix; five grandchildren, David, Tracie, Mike, Matt and Luke; and four great-grandchildren.
At his request, no services will be held. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice
