Monique Yvonne Poissant, 76, of Chandler, died May 11, 2005. She came to Cottonwood to be cared for by her daughter.
Born April 13, 1929, in Paris, France, she grew up in France and was there when Hitler invaded. When she was a little girl she once found a hand grenade in her pocket, which never exploded.
Poissant was a pre-school teacher for 25 years in Chandler. A lover of art, she also enjoyed gardening and flowers, traveling and her beloved poodles.
Her husband of 44 years, Maurice Roch Poissant, preceded her in death.
She is survived by Maurice M. Poissant, of Maricopa; two daughters, Cathy Mannix, of Cottonwood, and Caroline Wendelschlafer, of Queen Creek; one sister, Marie-France Muller, of Robelles, France; and six grandchildren.
A graveside service was May 17 in the Valley of the Sun Memorial Park in Chandler.
Westcott Funeral Home directed arrangements.
