A viewing will take place between 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Camino Nuevo Church of God, 1535 S. 8th Avenue. A graveside service with burial will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park. Johnson Mortuary is handling arrangements. _____________________________________________________________ Published in The Yuma Sun on January 13, 2011 - Yuma, Arizona - Inez (Palacio) Martinez, 91, passed away in her home surrounded by family Thursday, January 6th, 2011. She was born on November 16, 1919 in Yuma, Arizona to Gregorio and Maria Palacio. Inez was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ on September 20th, 1943 at age 23 in Bayard, New Mexico and subsequently dedicated her life to faithfully serving the Lord alongside her husband, Frank C. Martinez. She and Frank were married for 68 years, until the Lord called him home January 18th, 2010. Inez devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren. She loved to be in the company of her family, gathering together at holidays, around the dinner table and sharing about the bible. She loved to shop and was an excellent seamstress, often sewing clothing for herself and children. She was often complimented for her keen sense of fashion. Inez also enjoyed spending time tending her garden, planting flowers and keeping her yard manicured. She will always be remembered by the way she made each and every one of her kids and grandkids feel loved. "Nana's house" was always considered "home"; a place all looked forward to visiting but never wanted to leave. She will be always in our memory, close to our hearts and missed by all who knew her. Inez is survived by nine children; Four sons, Danny (Francis), of Yuma, Isaac (Tammy) of Tucson, AZ, Jacob (Eva), of Yuma and Gilbert, of Phoenix, AZ; five daughters, Dolores De La Vara (Rudy) of Ontario, CA, Rachel Leyva of Rialto, CA, Rebecca Pacheco (Edward) of Corona, CA, Diana Martinez and Delilah Gastelum, both of Yuma; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Gregorio & Maria Palacio, Inez was preceded in death by three brothers; Frank, Edward and Augustine Palacio and four sisters; Isabel Moreno, Geronima Renteria, Amada Ruiz and Simona Delgado. Funeral services will be held at Camino Nuevo Church of God located on 1535 S. 8th Ave. Yuma, AZ. at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 14th 2011. A graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial on Saturday, January 15th 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be Daniel, Isaac, Jacob, Gilbert, Daniel Martinez, Jr and Gabriel Leyva.
