The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Tuesday, January 18, 2011 Richard Alan Bregant (1940-2010) Richard Alan Bregant, 70, of Cottonwood died January 14, 2011 at his home. He was born September 9, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Evelyn Bregant. He attended Witt Grade and High School and went on to serve his country as a radioman second class in the Navy. Mr. Bregant worked as an accountant and personnel manager for American Coal in Utah and Peabody Coal Company in Springfield, Illinois, Price, Utah and Flagstaff, Arizona. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elk for 22 years in Price, Utah and the American Legion. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Cottonwood, Arizona. An avid bowler, fisherman, RV traveler (especially to the Oregon and Washington coast), he also loved kite flying on the beaches. He always had a dog. He passed away peacefully at home after an 18 month battle with leukemia. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Mike and Robert Bregant. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Patricia; son Richard A. “Chip Bregant (Danelle) of Phoenix and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jeduthun and Richard; a daughter Theresa M. Myers (Jim) of Flagstaff; brother-in-law Thomas E. Clark of Troy, Illinois; sisters, Carolyn Miller of Springfield, Illinois and Nancy Moreland (Bill) of Coperas Cove, Texas. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 20 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10 AM.
