The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, January 19, 2011 Sandi Gibbons, 87, a 12-year resident of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on Jan. 16, 2011, after a short illness. Sandi was born Oct. 3, 1923, in St. Johns, Ariz., to LeRoy and Amy Gibbons. Both her father's Gibbons family and her mother's Patterson family were early Arizona pioneers. Sandi attended elementary school in both St. Johns and Yuma, and then graduated from Holbrook High School. She also attended BYU. She worked as a model in New York City and later worked for the Arizona Highway Patrol as a dispatcher, and then worked for various businesses in administrative and management positions. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed reading, singing, letter-writing, friends and, most of all, her family. Sandi is survived by two daughters, Linda Joyce Maestas (Sikey) of Strasberg, Colo., and Mary Sue Engle of Holbrook, Ariz. She is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Jenkins (Douglas) of Orem, Utah, and Valerie Colligen (Jim) of Prescott, Ariz.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 21 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sister, Amy O'Conner, and her brother, LeRoy Gibbons II. A private family memorial service is planned.
