HIMMES, James Henry

Mr. James Henry Himmes, 85, of Mesa, AZ died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 5, 2004. James was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Himmes. He is survived by his children, Judith and James of Colorado, as well as Janet and Joan of Washington State, 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. James served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked for many years in the financial industry, was active at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa, and was an avid bowler and golfer. James was also the neighborhood "handyman", and had a real passion for cars. Funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, January 10, 2004 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Rd. Mesa. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society or The Alzheimer's Research Foundation. Melcher's Mission Chapel of Mesa is serving the family.
