The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ January 21, 2011 Carl L. Ries, 88, of Gilbert, died Jan. 14, 2011, at his home in Gilbert from complications of Alzheimers. He was born March 15, 1922, in Santa Ana, Calif. Carl has lived in Arizona for 60 years. He was a building contractor, and served in the armed forces. He is survived by his wife, Christine Ries; children: Stan (Kitty) Ries; Roger (Carol) Ries; Linda (Jim) Cassels; Kenny (Judy) Ries; Christine (Pete) Whipple; Alice (Todd) Chuba; Scott Ries; Paul (Lucy) Ries; Travis Ries; Kathy Ries; 36 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren He was preceded in death by his grandchildren: Courtney and Melissa Whipple; and John Tatum. Graveside services were held Jan. 19, at Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek. Meldrum Mortuary in Mesa handled arrangements.
