Charlotte Goodburn-Fatica, 77, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., passed away on Monday, Jan. 17, 2011. She was born to Joseph and Cecilia Chambers on Oct. 26, 1933, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Charlotte later relocated to Arizona and graduated from Scottsdale High School in 1951. She then received her B.A. from Arizona State University in 1954.
In 1983, Charlotte married Don Fatica and they lived together in Prescott before moving to Sun Lakes. Charlotte was a Tempe elementary school teacher for 32 years until her retirement in 1994. She was always passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students, which led her to receive her MA in counseling from Arizona State University in 1969.
Charlotte loved her family, pets and travel, including a trip to Ireland. She also enjoyed antiques and square-dancing. Charlotte delighted in hosting dinners and parties with her famous cooking, and her Christmas White Elephant gift exchange was always the seasonal event.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Donald Fatica of Sun Lakes; sister Patricia "Trudy" (Phil) Messinger of Prescott; and sons Craig Goodburn (Janet) of Maricopa and Brian Goodburn (Deborah) of Tempe.
Private family services will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
