LAROCHELLE, Rosemary Elizabeth

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published on Sunday, January 23, 2011 - Rosemary Elizabeth LaRochelle, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep Jan. 13, 2011 after a brief illness in Anaheim Hills, Calif. She was born April 25, 1922, in Papillion, Neb., to Ruth Steyer and John Umatum. The family moved to Southern California where she was raised and married her high school sweetheart and true love, Louis LaRochelle. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years of marriage. She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband, Louie. Rosemary was a talented homemaker. She took cooking and cake-baking classes when the boys were in school and often provided the best treats for their school parties. She also was a den mother for the boys Cub Scout pack and was active in their school PTA. When the boys had grown, she decided to try out her professional skills and became an insurance officer for Time Finance in Downey, where she worked for 15 years. After her retirement in 1989, she and her husband, Louis, wintered each year in Lake Havasu City. She enjoyed square and round dancing, RV travel, boating, fishing and going to the movies with friends. Rosemary was active in the Lake havasu Women's Club and enjoyed its monthly luncheons. She also attended swimming classes at the Aquatic Center and played bunco at the Lake Havasu Senior Center. She spent many days walking or sitting on the beach at Rotary Park watching all the boaters and enjoying the beauty of the lake. She will be missed by all of her family and friends. Rosemary is survived by her son, Lyn (Donna) LaRochelle, of Henderson, Nev; son, Richard (Kathleen) LaRochelle, of Anaheim, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a warm, caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Graveside services will be in Whittier, Calif., at Rose Hills Memorial Garden of Prayers.
