GORDON,
Dugald (Dug)
"Dug" Dugald F. Gordon, 86, died December 11, 2003.
Dug graduated from the UA Tucson, where he majored in art, in 1939. He was a gifted artist, a natural writer, and a very creative person, talent that led him into the advertising field. While in college he was the editor of the UA Kitty Kat magazine and advertising manager for Jacome's of Tucson department stores. After college he worked for Wilson Brothers Clothiers in Chicago in their advertising department. His advertising career spanned 40 years and he was recognized with numerous awards, one being the 1956 Putman Award of Highest Honors.
In 1941, he married his wife Roberta "Gretchen" Pederson. They had three children, Gregory, Dugald "Gary" and Jan. Dug and Gretchen retired to Tombstone, AZ, in 1971 moving back into the old family home; the same house that he was born in and grew up in.
While retired in Tombstone he was active in real estate and served on the Tombstone Restoration Commission. Dug's efforts on the restoration commission can be seen everyday walking on the wooden sidewalks of downtown Tombstone, for which he received a certificate of appreciation from the Tombstone Restoration Commission in 1989.
Dugald is survived by his daughter Jan Gordon of Tombstone, AZ.; his brother, Marvene Gordon of Sarasota, FL; and grandnephew Paul Gordon of Phoenix, AZ.
A memorial service will be scheduled in the spring of 2004.
