Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, January 26, 2011 Tommie Brown, age 62, beloved husband, cherished father, devoted son, brother, uncle, God-father, and friend, was born in Miami, Ariz. on May 13, 1948 and entered into Eternal Life on Dec. 19, 2010. He was surrounded by his loving family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of two wars, Vietnam and Desert Storm. He continued to serve his country in the National Guard where he retired his military services. Tommie’s effort as a service person did not stop with the military. Tommie also served his community as a police officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Chief Judge of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, Game and Fish Officer, Court Room Advocate, substitute teacher at the San Carlos School district, and was a security guard with San Carlos Indian Health Services as well. Tommie was a people person and greatly enjoyed having conversations with everyone around him and loved to tell jokes. He enjoyed fishing, passionately watching WWF, barbecuing rib-eye steaks, and indulged in reading novels and many books. But most of all he loved spending quality time with his family, especially his wife, Charlene. “Dad you will truly be missed but never forgotten.” Tommie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Charlene H. Brown; his three children, Carrie Thompson, Mark (Linda) Brown and Timothy Brown; his mother, Francis Brown; three sisters, Becky Young, Elizabeth “Jeanne” Brown, and Marilyn Dewey; two brothers, Samson Brown and Benjamin “Benny” Brown; and two grandsons, Andrew Paul and Cohen Mark Brown who he was very proud of. He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Brown, and brother, Daniel Brown, Sr. Services were held starting with a Vigil (wake) on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 at 4 p.m. where he resided in Lower Peridot. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Burdette Hall in San Carlos, followed by interment at the Veteran’s Cemetery in San Carlos, Ariz. A luncheon was served at the Brown’s residence immediately following the burial. Assisting the family is Safford Funeral Home.
