Doris Martin Ferguson passed away on Jan. 23, 2011 at her residence in Lake Havasu City at the age of 94. She was born on Jan. 10, 1917, in Fallon, Nev., to Robert and Anna (Lohse) Martin.
Doris graduated in 1938 as a registered nurse form the Los Angeles County General Hospital. During her nursing career, she visited numerous countries as a representative of the California Nurses Association. She was also an active member in her churches; Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Lake Havasu City and assisted with the various church activities and was especially proud of her work for the literary council in Long Beach, Calif., and Lake Havasu City.
Doris loved the outdoors and in her 60s hiked and completed the Appalachian Trail. She made Lake Havasu City her home 12 years ago, relocating here from Long Beach, Calif.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Carol Dellacioppa and her husband, Nick, and Toni Ruderman and her husband, Jeff, all of Lake Havasu City; granddaughter Dora Barnes, her husband, Tony, and their two children Trevor and Cindell Barnes; nephew, Walt Richter and his wife, Jeanne, of San Diego, Calif.; as well as all her lifelong family and friends and new friends from Lake Havasu. The family would like to extend special thanks to Clara Hector, her “Guardian Angel,” Jan Anderson “a special friend” and Joyce Cowie, who watched over her lovingly.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Robert and May Martin, her husband Arthur who passed away after 53 years of marriage, her brothers Otto, John and Cy and sisters Joanne, Betty and Marian.
