Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Friday, January 28, 2011 Fay Ban Bartec Jordan, 94, formerly of Winslow, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011. Mrs. Jordan was born Jan. 11, 1927, in Clark County, Miss., to Rufus and Eva Cameron Bartec. She was educated in Clark County and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Golden Gate Chapter No. 6. She moved to McNary with her family in 1943 and worked for Santa Fe Railroad, Southwest Forest Industries, McNary General Hospital and attended Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Jordan moved to Winslow in the late 1950s and met and married the Rev. Elijah Jordan in 1968. She attended Zion Baptist Church, where she served as mission president. She was also a member of St. John's Baptist Church in Holbrook. Mrs. Jordan and her husband were active in the community, becoming foster parents to many children over the years. She lived in Winslow until the passing of her husband in 1985, after which Mrs. Jordan moved to Phoenix and lived there until her death. Mrs. Jordan is survived by children Wyte Young Sr. (Rosa) and Mary Hadnot (W.L.) of Winslow; 13 foster children; 12 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish her memories. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; nine siblings; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greer's Mortuary Chapel in Winslow. A funeral service will be Saturday at noon at Zion Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Desert View Cemetery.
