Graveside services were Wednesday at the Wenden Cemetery for Hermon Mace Willey, 69, of Wenden, who died Feb. 8.
Mr. Willey was born Feb. 14, 1920 in Shelburne, Vt. He had lived in Arizona for the past 12 years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 882nd Bomb Squadron, as a Technical Sgt. He was in the air offensive over the Aleutian Islands occupied by Japan. He was awarded the AP Theater Ribbon with four bronze stars, and the good conduct medal with four oak leaf clusters.
He was a member of VFW Lodge No. 6088 in North Carolina.
Survivors include his wife, Letha M. of Wenden; three daughters, Lesley Bracken of Arizona, Donna Humphrey of Georgia and Merry Combs of Indiana; three sons Richard Willey of North Carolina, Charles Willey of Wisconsin and George Willey of California; a sister, Mary Darling of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren; and one nephew.
