Rudy Emmett Waldrup passed away Jan. 17, 2011, at his home in Lake Havasu City at the age of 75. Rudy was born on Nov. 15, 1935, in Sylvarena, Miss., to Emmett and Clara (Yelverton) Waldrup.
Rudy and his wife Maryanne, along with their five daughters, made Lake Havasu City their home in 1972. In that same year, Rudy and Maryanne, along with his sister June Yarborough and her husband, Dennis, bought Harry’s Lounge and changed the name to the Pour House Bar and Restaurant. Throughout the next 18 years, the Pour House fed many residents, both old and new and the construction workers who helped build the city. Being a pioneer to the city, Rudy helped promote many activities: among them were the chili cook-offs, bike races and canoe races. He also sponsored men’s and ladies’ softball teams including the 23-0 men’s team. Rudy was also a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4299.
Rudy was loved by all who knew him. “Ol Rude” will be dearly missed by all.
Rudy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maryanne; daughters, Vikki Stamm, Barbara Beck, Nancy Salamin, Robin Twelker and Sandy Campbell; brothers, Ken Waldrup, Billy Waldrup, Bob Waldrup and Jeff Waldrup; sister, June Crismon; nine grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Max Waldrup and George Waldrup; and his sister, Diane Waldrup.
Donations may be made in Rudy’s name to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86404, or Eagles Aerie #4299, 1516 Marlboro Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
