Michael "Kent" Byrd passed away on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in the Intensive Care Unit at Kingman Regional Medical Center from complications due to emphysema and basically living a fairly rough life.
Born in San Antonio on Oct. 23, 1950, he had been in Kingman since 2002 and, to his own amazement, he managed to live to be 60 years old. Despite living with severe injuries from a motorcycle accident for the past 40 years, he tried not to be a burden to those around him, and he pretty much succeeded at that.
He managed to make more friends than enemies and although often outwardly cynical about many things, was basically good-natured, generous and a kind, sentimental person at heart, and generally managed to treat those around him better than he treated himself.
He is survived by his brother, Kevin Jackson of Kingman; two wonderful daughters, Shiloh Pippenger of Reno and Jessica Moody of Houston; and four grandchildren, Bradley, Breanne, Aren and Rileigh.
