Andrew Smith Knox, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at his residence in Eagar. He was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Strafford, Pennsylvania, the son of Reed and Elizabeth Knox.
Andrew served his country in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 where he achieved the rank of Corporal in World War II. He was a ham radio operator, an avid boat racer, and an airplane pilot. He had a great love of music and of animals. Andrew attended Stetson University in Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Claire W. Knox of Eagar; son Gary S. Knox of Springerville; daughter Mildred M. Tupper of Centennial, Colo.; and two grandchildren: Michele Tupper of Georgia, and Lisa Tupper of Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Round Valley Animal Rescue in Springerville.
