Pearl Bessie Huston, 97, of Camp Verde and formally of Flagstaff, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at her home in Camp Verde.
Mrs. Huston was born on July 27, 1913, in Jewel Ridge, Va., to Joseph R. and Nancy (Cantrell) Pruitt. Mrs. Huston was one of eight children born on the family farm, where she and her family worked for many years. She met and married her husband, Jesse Huston, and moved to Arizona in 1978. She took care of the family home. Mrs. Huston was an active member of the Timberline Fire Department Auxiliary. She had lived in Camp Verde since 1994 with her daughter and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie (Duane) Tennant of Camp Verde; son Jimmy (Arlene) Huston of Macarthur, W.V.; sister Avis Boyd of Virginia; brother Joseph Pruitt of Virginia; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Huston Sr.; son Jesse Houston Jr.; two brothers; and three sisters.
A visitation will be Friday at 8 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 9 a.m. at Lozano's Flagstaff Mortuary, 2545 N. Fourth St., in Flagstaff. She will be buried next to her husband at Citizens Cemetery Veterans Section, 1300 S. San Francisco St.
