Melinda Clements of Humboldt, Ariz., beloved daughter, sister, auntie, and friend, moved to her Heavenly Home Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011. She was born in Yuma on Dec. 13, 1953.
Raised in Yuma, she was a member of Valley Baptist Church and graduate of Kofa High School. She lived in Phoenix, working for Insurance Services Office for more than 20 years. She actively served at Heart to Heart Bible Church, working in children's ministries and helping with numerous wedding receptions. In 1994, she moved to her much-loved Humboldt, and worked for Wolfe Publishing until her battle with cancer prevented her. She was Wolfe's circulation manager.
Melinda continued to faithfully serve at churches - Central, Faith and then Lighthouse Baptist. She headed up missions programs, corresponded with missionaries throughout the world, worked with children and could always be found helping out in the kitchen.
She will be remembered for her caring nature, her big smile, her extraordinary cooking, her love for giraffes and southern gospel music, and her greatest love - Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Melinda is greatly missed by her friends and her family, loving parents John and Mary Clements of Yuma; sisters and brothers-in-law Candi Davenport, Chet and Kathy Crain of Yuma, and Howard and Johnna Traver of Humboldt; nieces and nephews Josh and Brittainy Davenport, Jessica Davenport, John and Jenny Crain, Daniel and Katie Jiminez, Brittney Traver and Wesley Traver; and great-nephews and -niece Johnny and Sammy O'Donnell and Opal Crain.
Her memorial celebration will be at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 8558 E. Valley Road, Prescott Valley, 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, dinner following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at the memorial service or sent to Baptist Mid-Missions, P.O. Box 308011, Cleveland, OH 44130-8011.
