HOOVER, Bernard (Barney)

Bernard (Barney) Hoover Monday morning our world slipped away, Bernard was called home to the angels. Barney was born in Kansas on August 20, 1956 to Kenneth and Ida Hoover. He was suddenly taken from us on January 31, 2011 by a heart attack. He graduated from Grinnell High School in 1974 and, foreseeing the future, went into computer programming. He had just started his 22nd year with Sunquest Information System. Barney was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. His favorite times were those he spent with his family. He was the ultimate Kansas City Chiefs fan! When he wasn't taking care of his immediate family, he spent his limited spare time feeding the homeless with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Hoover; five children, Jamie Hoyt (Chris), Trisha Hoover, Andrew Hoover, Ashley Jones and Amber Jones; two grandchildren, Nita Rae and Leila Nichole, who were the light of his life; four sisters, Cindy Kohmetscher (Tom), Chris Dinkel (Lenny), Brenda Beckman (Paul) and Barbara Garlisi (Michael) and his mother, Ida Hoover of Lady Lakes, Florida and numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his dad, Kenneth Hoover and his brother, Charles Hoover. Barney will be terribly missed and remembered by everyone he touched with his kindness, warmth and love. In lieu of flowers the family would like everyone to treat their fellowman with kindness. Donations could also be made to your local homeless shelter or food bank. The Service will be held at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway Blvd., Friday, February 4, 2011 at 3:30 p.m.
