EICKS, James (Jim) Lester


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 4, 2011 Jim Eicks, 90, Master Sgt. USAF retired died Dec. 26, 2010, at his home in McNeal. He was born August 16, 1920, in Pirtleville. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Beulah Eicks, brother Leslie, sisters Evelyn, Edith and Leona, as well as stepson Bobby Mosley. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim is also survived by wife Larella; brother Jack Eicks, sisters: Frances Appelin and Tiny Dulin; daughters Lonia (Joe) Gray, Vicki (Max) Bohmfalk, Nancy (Don) Papsdorf; stepdaughters: Jessica Mosley-Kerr, Libby Jayne Mosley, Sandra Bennett and stepson Charles Longnecker. Jim served our country proudly for over 20 years in the Air Force. He was in the Strategic Air Command, including several fighter squadrons and flew many bombing missions defending our country during WWII. After retiring from the Air Force, he spend many years drilling water wells with his dad here in southern Arizona, eventually taking over the business after his father died. He moved to Show Low where he met and married Larella in 1995. They moved back to McNeal in 1999. Jim was a kind, gentle and friendly man with many friends and was well known in southern Arizona and the Show Low area. He will be greatly missed. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. March 21, at McNeal Cemetery.
