EGLY, Ruth

Ruth Egly a long time resident of Chariton, IA died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at her home in Green Valley, AZ after a long battle with cancer. Born December 24, 1926 in Muscatine, IA to William and Anna Hermann, Ruth attended Muscatine High School, University of Iowa and Iowa Weslayn College. Ruth taught elementary school in Maynard, IA, Muscatine, IA and Des Moines, IA. Soon thereafter her and her husband settled in Chariton, IA with their two children, Julie and Scott Egly. After the passing of her daughter, Julie, Ruth and James raised their granddaughter, Tonya Zaino. Ruth dedicated her life to family, friends and God. She had a truly generous nature and spirit. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dr. James Egly; her son, Scott Egly; her granddaughter, Tonya Zaino; her grandson-in-law, Anthony Zaino, her great-grandson, James Richard Zaino; her brother, Dr. Loren Hermann and many nieces and nephews. At Ruth's request there will be no Memorial Service. There will be a Private Family Service and Burial at the family plot in Des Moines, IA.
