Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Monday, February 7, 2011 - Russell C. Carty, 84, passed away Jan. 28, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. He was born on April 20, 1926 to Jone and Maggie (Collinsworth) Carty in Greenville, Texas. Russell served under the direction of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.He married his best friend Argie Corene Lane on Dec. 22, 1949 and together they made Lake Havasu City their home 16 years ago from Fontana, Calif. He worked for Sunkist as a mechanic in Ontario, Calif. for many years. Russell liked bowling, fishing and loved his trips to Laughlin and going to the buffets. Playing cards at night with his family and friends was also one of his favorite things to do. Russell leaves behind his beloved wife of 61 years, Argie Carty of Lake Havasu City; sons, Ronald Jone Carty of Fontana, Calif., Jimmy Wayne Carty of Apple Valley, Calif., Larry Glen Carty of Perris, Calif., Russell Lee Carty of Plattburg, Mo. and Tilman Ray Carty of Casper, Wyo.; one brother, Daniel Tilman Carty; one sister, Daisy Hutchen of Valley Center, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers J.C. Carty and Johnny Carty, and sister Effie Nelson. Funeral services are on Thursday, 10:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Chaplain Rudolph Bimary will offer words of comfort and inspiration. Military honors are at Riverside to honor his time in the service. A special thanks to Hospice of Havasu for the special care they provided for Russell and his family.
