The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ February 11, 2011 Mervyn H. Hill Mervyn H. Hill, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, in Springerville. He was born June 11, 1938, in Springerville to Abraham Madrid Hill and Lorenza Najar Hill. Mervyn served his country in the United States Army beginning in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1967 after serving nine years. He also served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a sawyer for Smurfstone Container retiring after 30 years. Mervyn loved being with his family and friends. He loved to fish and camp and take rides in the woods. He loved his nieces and nephews and those wonderful kids whom he called grandkids. Mervyn is survived by eight grandkids; brother Fred (Christine) Hill of Eagar; and sister Lucy Hill of Springerville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara Hill, sisters: Ida Candelaria, Anita Rubio, and brothers: Lorenzo Hill and Greg Hill. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at The First Assembly of God Church of Springerville. Interment will follow services at the Springerville Cemetery.
