Charles James Melvin, 87, of Camp Verde died Aug. 3, 2006, in Prescott. Charles was born April 25, 1919, in Cullom, Ill., to the late George and Edna Mae Melvin.
Charles served our country in the U.S. Army Mounted Cavalry Division during World War II. Charles was a member and supporter of the American Legion. Among his favorite things to do were fishing, hunting, and woodcarving.
Charles is survived by his two sons Gary Melvin of Flagstaff and David Melvin of Chatsworth, Ill.; his daughter, Sandra McIntyre of Camp Verde; his brother, Robert Melvin of Pontiac, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside memorial will be celebrated 10 a.m. today, Aug. 11, at Middle Verde Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the VA Hospice unit in Prescott - VAMC- ECRC 500 N. Hwy. 89, Prescott AZ 86313.
