Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, Arizona - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from February 8 to February 15, 2011 - Fred Robinson, age 88, of Bullhead City, Ariz died on Feb. 4, 2011 of natural causes. Fred was born to Garnett & Hazel Baumgartner Robinson in MacDonough County Illinois on September 30, 1922. Fred and Audrey knew each other since high school in Blandinsville, Illinois. They married in 1942, and Fred joined the Army shortly thereafter to serve his country with the 11th Airborne Division in the Pacific in WWII. He was a paratrooper in the Phillipines, where he made two combat jumps and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Fred and Audrey had four children, Rick, Randy (who died in a car accident in 1966 at age 18), Linda (who died of natural causes in 1993), and Jo Anne. Fred inspired a military family: his son, Rick, was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne, his grandson, Darrell, is a career Marine Major, and his son-in-law, Bob, served in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam conflict. Fred was a member of the Mohave Valley Masonic Lodge #68, the Mohave Shrine Club, as well as many other organizations. He was an avid fisherman and former hot air balloon pilot. Fred was a good friend to many, many people and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents, his son Randy, and his daughter Linda. He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Audrey; son, Rick (Barbara); daughter, Jo Anne (Bob); son-in-law, Dale Gibboney; eight grandchildren, Darrell Robinson, Gina Russell, Shawn Armstrong, Chris Gibboney, Jason Gibboney, Michele Sauer, Ryan Westerman, and Kristi Transue; and 15 greatgrandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Masonic Lodge, 2580 Miracle Mile, Bullhead City 86442. In lieu of flowers, the family requestes that donations be made to the Mohave Shrine Club (see address above).
